College Night Panel Discussion

College Night Panel Discussion

On Monday March 16th, FC Premier hosted their first annual college recruitment information night.  The evening consisted of a panel discussion followed by a question and answer period, panelists included: Kristine Turner - Head Coach Monmouth Women’s Program DI, Lenny Armuth – Head Coach Drew University Men’s Program DIII; as well as three former collegiate players, David Wright – Indiana University, Eric Shaw – Seton Hall University and Alex Schmidt – Saint Bonaventure University.

The five panel members provided useful information better clarifying and explaining how the process works.  A broad variety of topics were addressed including: the difference between the various levels of collegiate soccer, the role of the player in the college search/recruiting process, how to establish contact with a college coach, the importance of academics and maintaining good grades, finding the school that is right for the player.  Throughout the discussion emphasis was placed on the importance of players taking the lead in the process and the timing of the process.

There are many schools offering students the opportunity to play, those committed to the process increase their odds at being successful finding a school that is a good fit both academically and athletically.

Given the success of the event, FC Premier plans on making this an annual event, providing players with the tools needed to be successful both on and off the field and potentially at the collegiate level
